Species we carry
Pine and poplar at $8 are the cheapest way into a live edge project. Beetle kill pine at $14 brings the blue-gray staining that only comes from the beetle. Walnut at $22 to $35 is the premium end and the one most people come in asking for. In between there is ash, elm, silver maple, sycamore, honey locust, oak, Russian olive, poplar, cherry, and pecan.
Kiln dried matters
A green slab will move, cup, and check as it dries, and it can do that after you have already built with it. Everything on our rack has been through a kiln, so it is stable and ready to work. That is worth more than the per-board-foot difference between us and someone selling out of a barn.

Are your live edge slabs kiln dried?
Yes. Every live edge slab we sell is kiln dried, so it is stable and ready to build with. You are not waiting a year for it to come to moisture content.

How do I calculate board feet?
Board feet = thickness in inches × width in inches × length in inches, divided by 144. A slab 2in thick, 24in wide and 96in long is 32 board feet.
